Hi,

Been the proud owner of a 05 1.5 SE for just over a month now.

The thing is, I've just noticed that the front bumper on the Drivers side is not in line with the wing right below the light unit (it in line everywhere else). I know the car has been kurbed on that side (not me). I've check the Bumper for signs of damage and its clean, the odd stone chip but no scuffs, not even on the bottom edge where the the kurb may have caught.

I don't want the hassle of putting it in under warranty if they are going to turn round and say its been kurbed and therefore not covered. That's how I found out it had been kerbed. Noticed steering vibration at 80mph so put it in, unfortunately I'd had it two weeks before I noticed it and therefore couldn't prove it wasn't me that did it. I now have a slightly dented spare.

Does this sound like user fault or manufacturer fault?
Hows the bumper fitted? As I say its only out of align below the light unit.

You can probably tell I'm not a petrol head, so thanks for any help.

Thought I'd add a bit of detail to the problem.

The front bumper on the driver side sticks out about 6mm further than the wing.
This is from the corner of headlight unit to just before the wheel arch. The end of the bumper at the wheel arch is fine (in line and held firmly).

With the palm of my hand I can push it into place, but it won't stay in place.

Is there clips or somthing that holds the bumper inline with the wing?

Thanks for any help you can give.

my rear bumper was out of line slightly and that was due to a brocken clip. same as yourself, just at the end before the wheel arch (well same only at the back)

Thanks for replying Gilly.

Did your clip just go, or did the bumper get a wee smack?

There is no real sign of it being hit with anything. A couple of slight scratch marks, but I did more to my old primera bumper when I parked to close to a hedge.

Still don't know if its worth the hassle of trying for a warranty repair.

Phoned a Nissan dealer to see if its a warranty fix. They said that when its a bumper they always suspect its had a bump and so the chances are they won't fix it, but If a took it in they'd have a look.
I've only had the car a couple of months so don't know what has happened to the bumper. Don't think it was like that when I got it. I suppose it might have had a nudge in a car park. All I do know is its not been bumped when I've been behind the wheel.

We'll I had it in a couple of weeks ago for them to have a look and they could see no reason for it not clipping in.
So it due to go in on Thursday under warranty :D

was there when i got the car, me think is was a little bump, but hey it looks ok once cliped in.

My Almera (06) has the same problem, the bumper is not in line with the wing, it is going in tommorow to nissan for them to remove the bumper and check why it is like that, better be on warrenty as car is only 2 months old (1000 miles), we will see tommorow when they ring me to let me know.

Mine went in to a local Nissan dealer through Arnold Clark (Fiat), who I bought it from.

when I picked it back up from Arnold Clark the girl on the desk said that it had to go back in as they had to order a part.
When I got my car I instantly noticed that the bumper was better, but not fixed. I persumed thats why it had to go back.

Well I phoned Arnold Clark today find out what had been done to the car (they also fixed airbag light for the third time). He phoned back to say that the Nissan dealer had fixed the air bag light and that it didn't need to go back in so the girl must have been mistaken.
I asked what they said about the bumper. He said they'd mentioned that they had re-aligned it. I told him that while it is slightly better it still isn't clipped onto the wing.
I'm now once again waiting for a phone call.

EDIT:
Got a phone call from the girl I originally delt with. She appologised for not getting back to me sooner. She says they are having trouble getting the bracket required to fix my bumper but hopefully would have news soon.

All I can say is :D    :D

Bumper Update:
Picked my Almera up from Nissan after work, to find out that they had not sorted the bumper out, I was told that they had to order a bracket for the car and would ring me as soon as it came in. I asked if it was getting done on the warranty and was told they they are putting in through on the warranty. Don't know if I have a good nissan dealers here in Lincoln or it was just pot luck, any way at least I'm not paying for it.

Update:

Gat a call; the part should be in next week. The car is booked in on the 27th.

Thats nearly one month its taken

Took the morning off work - sat for 45mins - Then told they'd ordered the wrong part - Goes back in on the 2nd Aug - For F%$ck Sake

Sat for 2hrs - Ordered the right part - but wrong part in bag.

Parks in Kirkcaldy.

Sounds as though they're bullshitting you mate

Yep I reckon that too - but they're the nearest Nissan to me, only 6 miles away. The next nearest is Dunfermline which is more like 20 miles.

It took them three attempts to fix my airbag system too. About a month after I got the car the airbag light started to flash. They fixed it, said they'd done a mod to the wiring. Two weeks later light back on. They fixed it again, said a loose wire. Then a month after that happend again.

Got a call from Parks today.

The parts in - their technician has looked at it and say its the correct bit. Booked in for the 17th. We'll see!!
