Front end damage!

Complete tosser jammed on in front of me last night so in need of a new faceplate for the lights and so on to fit into, they're spot welded on an I've heard rumours that you can buy them new off of eBay? Just wondering if anyone can confirm this or if anyone has had similar damage to their car and has managed to fix it properly?
Cheers in advance
Alex

Sam replaced the front panel on my daily GTi when his brother crashed it into the back of a discovery. From the way it looks its quite straight forward.

It fairly easy. You an plug weld the front panel on with MIG or spot weld if you have the facility. I've got a complete body repair manual in a PDF which gives you all the dimensions from hole-to-hole and corner-to-corner so you can make sure it's all straight and true before you paint it or try and refit bits. Chuck me a PM and I'll send it over the weekend if you like.

Spook that would be amazingly helpful if you could buddy, realised I'll need a welder but I've got my red one which I'm breaking just wondering if I'm careful if I can salvage the one off that and have it re welded to my green one? Cheers for your replies :) that PDF would be awesome tho Spook!
LEG END! :)

You smashed your car up by intentionally ramming another vehicle? Not sure that I want to help you get back on the road to be honest.

Since when did I say I intentionally rammed another car? He jammed on the brakes an 4 guys got out an started kicking the crap out of the car, I wasn't gonna stick around so I left, he left no room for me to leave safely and I hit his door going past him? Think you'll find that's complete cocks being complete cocks, even the police said I did the right thing by avoiding any further trouble for myself? Judge all you want but I'm the one with the crime number, according to the police I can prosecute if they report it so if I'd have intentionally "rammed" a car I doubt they'd have been as sympathetic do you?

Its best you leave details out on here mate people can use it against you, hope you get it sorted! Which car is this the red or the green GTI?

Well don't want people thinking I'm into ramming cars when I hadn't explained details.
Unluckily it's the green one but I've got 99% of the parts I need on the red one I'm breaking, it's just the spot welded plate I'm most concerned with.

I wouldnt bother spending any money on repairing it. Buy yourself another gti and start fresh. That cars slow, already been sprayed once before and has got BARE rust issues.

If you look at my post it's got a '?' at the end. It was a question, not a statement. By what you said iin reply to Liam that would be a fair assumption anyway. I'll send you the bits but I dont want to get involved with anything else.

Yeah it is that one an yeah I noticed shame the bloke wasn't so forthcoming with those issues :/ waiting on a cheque so I can buy a new one just don't have the cash to start again at the mo :( but that's part of the plan anyway :)

You've got all the parts you need to start fresh anyway.

Exhaust system, wheels, coilovers etc

Wait for the cheque!

Buy another gti, this time one thats been looked after and then dont chase anyone anymore...lol

Yeah that was the plan to get a good running shell and add all the mods to it an break or scrap this one but I can't be doing without my car gotta get to see my daughter somehow, seen a couple of nice ones around but just not sure on how long it's gonna take that's the thing. It's not gonna cost me anything as I've got the bits I need just time really, depends what happens in the near future really.

you could buy a good 1.4/1.6 and just convert it using your current engine and stuff. Only takes a day to do it if you know what your doing. Plus gives you the option of having a 5dr sr20.

As a moderator on another forum I know how easy it is to jump to conclusions. The main thing that matters is that the op is ok and still around to ask for help getting it repaired.

Hope it all works out for you Wolverine
