front end?? is it to badly damaged??...

:Ohi, as most of you no i have recently joined AOC, i own a black GTi 2.0 almera 97 plate, i love the car, the engine and interior are mint (i dont think anyone has ever sat in the back), but the bodywork is pretty bad, the person who owned it before me clearyl didnt no how to drive that or was just dam unlucky....
if i was to be picky she needs a complete re-spray, both bumpers, and a new bonnet.
but for £700 i wasnt expecting a show car so can live with the bumpers and without the re-spray but want a bonnet and front grill, which i am in the process of buying from stu on here.

finally my question is (sorry about rabbiting on), as you look at the front of the car you can see the drivers side headlight is pushed in and so the bonnet hangs over the headlight, i have taken the headlights out aswel as the grill and indicators and bumper, i can not see how or why it wont line up with the other headlight, so can anyone help?? please.... please..... please.....

thanks alot guys.
dan.

If the headlight is clearly further back than the front edge of the bonnett, then I'm guessing that the slam panel itself has incurred some damage..
Pop a picture up mate, so I can have a lookie.

If you remove thhe headlight you'll probably find that the panel it mounts to is pushed back.. this happened on my micra and it was a right pain to bend back into a shape which resembled correct.

well....its in better condition to the front end of mine. Bought it and the passenger headlight was a bit behind the bonnet edge. I crashed it into a hedge to even the other one up :P

Tasha's after she went into the back of a van, used hammers, rope and a car jack to even it up a bit and it passed the mot no problem.
The 4 phases (Now has a black bonnet and properly sprayed bumper though)

thanks for the help guys, i will have a look at the weekend and put pitures up of what i find.

wish me luck........:O

i had a similar bump in my car where a mitsubishi warrior reversed into me.
when it happened it was quite bad, but i pulled it out but not to perfection, it gives the bonnet a slight edge over the lights and i really like it these days.
i thought if i get another mera, im just gonna push it into the back of a parked up warrior to get the same effect.

The light allignment is a bitch everytime the MOT rolls round.
Check that!

chris thats not the slam panel... thats the extra brace bolted between the chassis legs and im pretty sure only phase 2 almeras had them!

My first car had a headlight out of line just like this and it was the main front panel that had been pushed back where the highlight unit bolts to. Take the headlights and grille etc out and compare each side, look for any extra folds or kinks

If there is any probs wrap a chain around where it's bent in and attach the other end to a tree or post and reverse back til it's straight! Thats how I'd do it.
