Front wheel bearing gone?

I was tightening the nuts on the n/s/f wheel and as I applied pressure on the wrench, the wheel had about 3-5mm of play in it. Would this be the wheel bearing gone?

Is this a DIY job, and how much for a new bearing?

If you have a large vice and a bigger hammer its relatively easy.
Check the driveshaft nut hasn't just gone loose.

Okay, thanks rowdy I don't know how to check the driveshaft nut, see if I can't figure ithat out tomorrow.

Btw, the rubber boots that surround shocks, if they're all mashed up and split, is that an MOT fail?

So long as the shocks work and aren't leaking it should be fine.

Mine passed last week and the rubbers are shredded.
