FSE power boost valve info and queries

my gti has an FSE fitted along with one of those ecotek valve things. ideally i want to put the car back to standard however this is proving to be a potentially expensive route based upon how much nissan wanted for a standard regulator.

my query is, if i remove the ecotek valve from what looks to be the vacuum pipe to the brake servo area ( does that sound right?) can i then find the standard fuel pressure settings and get the fse set up to run at the standard pressure?

i really have no idea what either is supposed to do to be honest, so even some help into what these things do would be appreciated.

if i can do the above does anyone know the standard pressure i should be going for. id imagine that the pressure varies dependant on revs etc.

any help would be good. thanks in advance guys :D

instead of removing the ecotek valve completely you could just turn it off. ie loosen off the lock nut and screw it in fully.

you may still have the stnd fpr bolted to the rail if the previous person had it fitted that way but as above 3bar with the vac pipe pulled off the fse fpr is stock fueling. the fse fpr increases the pressure quicker than what the stnd one will as you boot it so to speak.

thanks guys. so regardless of whether i get the fse set up at 3 bar at idle with the vac pipe off it will always increase pressure the harder the car is revved?

Ive tightened the ecotek valve as much as will go but it still seems to make a horrible whooshing noise when letting off the accelerator. could the fse cause this?

are these things actually to any benefit? from what i have noticed so far the car just seems to drink fuel!! its been decatted aswell so im not sure what else to put the horrendous fuel consumption down to :)

Cheers for the help. Ill have to get some pics up in the members rides soon. Can you set up full membership without a paypal account?

the car had an induction kit on, thats been removed now and replaced with a standard airbox. It has a stainless cat back system, with a stainless silencer put in place of the original cat. they are all the bits that have been done as far as im aware.

^ you need to slacken off the lock nut on the ecotek valve fella then screw the filter/end bit full in.

3bar with the vac pipe off that is the MAX setting for the fpr, vac pipe on as normal on idle it'll drop to 2.4 - 2.6bar iirc.
mpg for most is 60 - 65miles to ten litres of go-go juice - im rubbish with the math tho haha

fresh spark plugs, a clean of the MAF senor and O2 sensor if not done recently will help the mpg battle

im currently getting around 45 miles to 10 litres. Ill try all the above and get a garage to look at the fse pressure.

Wheres the 02 sensor located? The maf is located on the air inlet isnt it? Whats the best stuff to use for cleaning them?

how much impact on fuel consumption does the de-cat make?

It is worth noting that a properly working Ecotek valve does add MPG for the sake of losing 1-2 hp.
pls explain how the ecotek loses bhp? is that what you mean buddy?

decat on mine, very lil diff in mpg if at all.

The O2 sensor is fitted in the middle of the stock exhaust manifold 22mm spanner I think will remove it (disconnect wiring loom before hand tho) Wipe the end with either brake/carb cleaner.

The MAF sensor if fitted in the intake, just behind the standard air box facing down on your GTi. Two cross head screws hold it in place, most folks recommend carb cleaner (read on can before purchase if fine to use on electrics) sprayed a good 10inches away from the sensor.

No need to take car to a garage to set/check fpr tho buddy, dead easy to adjust:

Start engine
Allow to warm to normal running temp (engine idles @ 750rpm-ish)
Disconnect vacuum from the regulator.
Slacken the top 12mm domed nut
Turn 12mm nut below clockwise/anti-clockwise to adjust (clockwise + pressure & and anti - pressure)
Tighten in reverse order
Refit vacuum pipe

Have you got a fuel pressure gauge on it?

nah no pressure gauge on it. thats the problem. although id imagine that you can only use an fse one on it cant you?

nah nah there a universal fit, the thread size are mostly all the same. search the bay, the seller will advise of its fitment.
i brought one brand new for less than £10 inc del to my door.

its recommended that its used just for set-up only, then removed afterwards.
ive left mine on, i think its looks cool lol
