Fuel light not working!

Hi all just wondering did any of ye come across a fuel light not working. my sister has a 00 n15 1.4 saloon and her light stopped working. i was a mechanic with nissan for years and have never come across this in a N15. tryed the most obvious the bulb but still no go so it must be the tank unit wat ye think? fuel gauge is working perfect but just wondering has anyone had this prob before i take out the tank unit!

How do you know it's not working? Did it run out of fuel and not come on?

My needle goes right under the red before the light comes on.
