recently ive been noticing funyy popping sounds when the engine is cold , rev the engine upto 3k or more let it drop down to 2-2.5k and this tiny pop suonds! car still runs fine.
Air leaking somewhere before the backbox, through either a small rusty hole, loose joint or broken gasket? Have you checked all the joints in your exhaust?
Yep, when my backbox was leaking if you rev it to 3k or so and back off it popped, I used to enjoy doing it lol. When I sorted the backbox the popping stopped
The noise is just a small amount of air escaping, just check the entire pipe from engine block to exit for rusty holes first, and if there are none, stick a rag over the end of the exhaust while the car's running and again check underneath for leaks, and if its a joint leaking, take it apart, clean all parts thoroughly, use some sealant or exhaust paste and put it back together and enjoy a nice smooth sound again
Mine does this all the time from cold, and on the way down the rev band after giving it a dig of the throttle while moving and warm. Pops and bangs lovely, quite like it actually.
