GA16 head

can anyone tell me what advantages disadvantages you would gain from putting the ga16 head onto the ga14?

what modds are worth wile doing to the 1.6 head in turbo application?

cheers, maritn

All I know is that the GA heads have bad intake to exhaust valve size ratio, so I don't believe you can have huge gains there...

...an example would be that GA14 intake valve (28.9-29.1mm diameter) compared to GA16 (29.9-30.2mm diameter) hardly a 1mm oversize is imo not a big gain, if you already have the ga16 head you can use it but don't know of any head mods that are worth the while...the head is too small for any serious mods, but that would be for N/A...don't know about turbo but it should probably be the same.

Also thought about getting bigger intake valves there but there is hardly any place left to go bigger, and the intake cylinder runners are also too small and what I read porting is restricted cause coolant passages etc are close to the runners.

I dont see why you would use a GA14 over a GA16? They are the same fitment etc, and the 16 can be made to run off the 14 ECU

i orignaly thought porting and polishing was for N/A to make the air flow better, and it wasn't needed as the turbo forces the air in, but has seem to be done a bit around the ga lads?

im new to this type of engine and just trying to learn as much as i can as im building

if any upgrade of valve was doable i would do the exhaust as its tinyyyyy.

Dale did a light porting job on his previous engine, have a word and see if it aided flow or he noticed a difference. on a turbo applicatiuon i highly doubt you would notice any differnece between the 14 and 16 head as the dimensions are almost identical

be nice to get hold of a vtc head and ecu and have an instantly better engine by over 10bhp in n/a form but shipping would be bongers

cov, rembering im boosting the ga, i could always look into getting some shipped over as my aunt imports loads of crap, im shure she could get them if you know where to look?
