Looking for a combination of gauges and monitors to show the following:

Boost (real analogue gauge)
Oil temp
Oil pressure
EGT (exhaust gas temp)
Instant mpg
Average mpg

Showing more would be a bonus. I've got a few ideas and have found a couple of combinations of devices that will show these but wondering if you guys might know of any that I might have missed? :)

For mpg Andy you can buy seperate 52mm gauges that can display both instant and average mpg in one gauge. Or search Google for 'scan gauge'. There's a little screen device that does a number of things including mpg.

Try Demon Tweaks. AOC Member discount too. Or try Google search in the UK for 'mpg gauge'.

Well a screen will set you back around £100, you've already got a screen surround to fit it in, it doesn't need a hugely powerful computer so around £100 again for that, £40 for the power supply and then around £20 for cables. Add a few toys like bluetooth and gps to suit yourself and you've basically got a full setup. Bare in mind that also covers your audio problems. I've got a copy of Centrafuse you can have too if you decide to do it.

My mate Mike (michael_771) is fitting one over the next month and he'll put up a guide on here I presume.

Hrm...sounds ok, but what's the boot up time? Don't want to be waiting longer than 10 seconds before the it's in use. Also 'finding a way' doesnt fill me with conficence either as it would want it to be able to or not.

I guess all this searching and faffing around for the N16 has made me impaitent because I have to do it with every single mod. I'm tired of it  Anyway...back on topic.

Something I should mention actually, I'd like a real analogue guage for boost anyway :D

i cant use that one i found as ihave OBD1 apparanlty and its OBD2. i think its instant start up they got a few others on there main website but the price goes silly after the basic one

For a CarPC I can strip out a copy of XP to make boot times quicker, I'm gonna do it for Mike's so I'll tell you what the boot time is like. I can see it being a little longer than 10 seconds but hopefully not a stupid amount more. Bare in mind you won't be clogging it up with lots of programs and other crap so it shouldn't really slow down over time either.

so is it basically a v small pc attached to a v small screen and connected to the data port, so like the laptop thing you do but permanent?

I think that would annoy the hell out of me long term :/ But yeah please let me know :) No worries about it slowing over time as yeah I understand they'll be no other crap constantly being installed. Although the idea of having Windows in my car...I won't be able to get away from the thing!
