Just an update to this, I finally added a chrome gear knob with glowing red shifter numbers, this looks really smart at night and well matches my paintwork too.
It took a bit of effort removing the moulded plastic one as I had to dremel slice it open and pry it off with a screwdriver. Then finally unscrew the white hexagon plastic thingy on the gear thread. Finally wired it up to ciggy lighter and all wires hidden under gaiter. Will post pics of it soon.
