gear shifter

i bought a richbrook gear knob and have fitted it today, after i put it on i realized that the gear leaver seems very long and high.
i was just wondering if anybody has hacked it down to make it smaller and look alot better?
was wondering how easy it would be to hack a short shifter and how it felt afterwards?
pics would be good to

i had to hacksaw the orginal shaft down and i think it looks smart bein small its about 7 inches i like it.

i cut about 3 inches off my shortshifter when i fitted it, just because i think it looks better, i'll get some pics tommorrow!

cut mine down in my Si, looks a lot better now

Really? I dislike low down gear sticks, took a while to get used to the focus one, I prefer a bit of travel

cut mine down today, had to drill the hole out a bit on my richbrook knob to fit. looks better and feels a lot better, seems like its quicker quick shifter now as its reduced the travel.
