Gear Stick Rattle

Hi there

I have a bog standard 1.5 S which has developed a rattling sound from the gear stick/box area when the car accelerates.

On very cold mornings it usually kicks in without fail. After the car has warmed up a little the rattling sound abates.

It sounds like a baby rattle being shaken and the only way I can stop the sound is by placing my hand on the gear stick.

I've taken it into the dealers and low and behold they cannot reproduce it.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?

I ahd the same problem on my almera, albeit the older N15 model, try the gear linkage where the stick meets the "rod". Might need tightening or greasing.
