gearbox question

Has anyone on here ever had problems with gearboxes in 1.4 or 1.6 mera?? really starting 2 get pissed off with replacing gearboxes lol

Its common towards higher mileage mera's especially if you have been showing them some abuse. This was the reason for me scrapping a perfectly roadworthy 1.4 Si, the gearbox went bust!

well i jus fitted a new gearbox and clutch in my 1.4, with no problems

I dont think fitting is the problem mate, I think the problem is that they're just shite

i scrapped a perfectly good gearbox for the sake of a busted rear engine mount bracket. Felt the gearstick slam backwards and instantly thought damn, new gearbox needed

i had problems with my sunny SR, but the sunny i had before that with the GA14 in was sound and still is at 120k miles love that car me

The gearboxes in the 1.4 and 1.6 are poo and commonly fail at around the 130k-140k mark.

Mine's developed a bit of a crunch into 3rd.

thank god aha thought it was jst me. both gearboxes I've had have went, all staring with that horrible noise when pulling away. putting 1 more in and if that goes so does the engine and upgraded to sumthin else
