after a new gearknob for my gti but wanna figure out how to take old one off first before splash out anyone know?

i just cut the gear stick bout an inch under the gear nob with a hacksaw and it made it a bit shorter and feels much better and is easier than trying to cut or pull the rubber off (trust me i tried) ;)

Nissan have a history of glueing them on! Try using some mole grips and a hammer.

Thats how i did mine (tho it mihgt be different on the N15)

cut off your old one. Youll see a white thing - get a lighter out and set it on fire for about 3-5 mins and then it comes off no bother :D

Thats how i did mine and it worked a treat

Boa Gripper from Halfords

Go to halfords, look for something called a boa gripper, its a handle with a piece of rubber strip hangin off it.Put it over the gear knob and it seriously deals with the glue and avoids you rippin your old one to pieces.Best do it cold and when you turn it you will hear it crack(the glue breaking)then turn clockwise on the thread.or alternatively use an oil filter strap wrench, same concept mate :)
cheers

I got mine N15 Gear Nob off by using a pair of plyers i turned it anti Clock wise and it just screwed off I put my sparco one on its too heigh so i am sticking with the orignial one

stanly knife it just straight down the middle from top to bottom, it will take a few attempts to get all the way through and then just peel it off. i remember it took me a good few hours like. molegrips help too like. b4 i had mine off i was hacking it with everything but the kitchen sink.

Theres ya prob right there...kitchen sink woulda got it off there an then..
;)

in the end the smaller bathroom sink was enough, bathroom sink, a stanley knife and some molegrips. thats all ya need

I found the height problem with my Momo knob, so I just chopped some of the gear stick off... Sorted!
