Good ground in N16 boot?

I've got a 300w 12" active sub for my boot and need a good ground.

The nearest usable 'official' ground point is at the base of the center pillar which is a lot further than the recommended 1 meter max.

However, I've had problems with makeshift grounds in boots before so am torn between finding one and just getting a longer ground cable and going for the center pillar.

Any advice?

Anyone know of a good ground point in an N16 boot?

Remove paint to bare metal under the boot carpet, drill a hole and nut and bolt a ring terminal on the cable end there. Never fails.

AFAIK as well should the ground cable not be as short as possible as well, hence why the kits contains only 1m of ground cable normally.

That simple? I didn't think that would be a good enough connection.

Cool. There's a screw there that I can use there already (holds the cargo net fixings to the boot floor) but there's a dimple under it - if I fill the dimple with solder and sand it flat will that do?

Correct. Earth should be about 500mm to a metre.

Dont solder the dimple just make a fresh hole.

I've had many different sound systems and even had 2 1000w amps running together at one point, and the ground I've always used is the bootlid anchor.. There's usually 2 10mm bolts holding it down, perfect for one of those gold ring connectors to sit under.. Thats the perfect ground as its bare metal usually bolted to a strut from the rear sub frame.. Plus its within 1m of anything in the boot.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've just used a bolt holding a bare metal reinforcing brace for now (had to be quick before going to work) and it seems to work fine but I'll get the multimeter out tomorrow and see which of the suggested points has the lowest resistance.
