Greetings from Finland!

Hello brothers in Almeras!

I was amazed by the amount of useful resources on this forum so I decided to join up - probably one of the better investments I've made in a while, along my Almera of course.

It's a metallic red -97 N15 sedan with a (for now) bone stock GA16DE in it. It has done about 247000km, but has full service/maintenance history up to about 233k.

The trim level is "GX", though I havent been able to find the exact features of this trim. They seem to differ by location so much. Nothing fancy though, it even has the god awful "low grade" bumpers on it...

A couple of questions have popped into my mind during the first month I've owned it:

- When I unscrew the fuel tank cap, some amount of pressure is released. Is this normal? I've owned some VWs in the past, and none of them have done this.

- When I cold start the car (has been +10 ... -10 degrees °C lately) something squeaks for about 5 to 10 seconds in the engine bay. Right after the squeaking stops, the idle RPM rise by a slight, but audible amount. I could be wrong, but my guess is alternator pulley. How do I make the squeakiness stop?

That's all for now. Pictures will follow later ;)

Pressure in the tank is normal.

It will be one of the two belts. It will need tightening that's all.
