Alright There Guys,

im probrably the only person on here who dosent have a Gti, but im 18, so meh!
When i first got my car, i was egar to make it look nice n that, but then i had to drive to sunderland everyday, and i spend £40 a week in petrol so i cant afford much, being a part time job n all.

im thinking getting some cool alloys, and lowering my suspension for around christmas time.

just wondering, does anyone know roughly, how much it would cost for a mechanic to fit some lowering springs to my car. And, would i have to declare it on my insurnace, which is high enough !

Cheers Ian.

things like springs and wheels need to declared on ur insurance for it to be valid. They do have the right to walk away from you shud you have an accident, and its then found you have mod's that are not declared.
i dont know how much the gargae would charge best way to save money would be to fit the springs yourself if you are any good with socket set.
as for insurance mate i feel for ya, but im same i have a Gti and im only 18

Dont u need a special machine to fit the springs yourself...
thats what i've herd

im with norwich union insurance, £900p.a TPFT

it costs an extra £9 a month for aftermarket alloys, and standard nissan alloys dont cost anything.

and how the hell do u pay insurnace on a GTi when your 18, they must rape u...

i bet your an Advanced Driver ;)

Not everyone has a GTi, I never got one when I was after a car as the insurance was too much for me so got the SRi which is just as good really in my opinion (quick enough for me anyway). Insurance is a lot whatever you car you have really when your 18 and have no no claims bonus to help you. Not all insurance companies like modifications so they may charge a little more. Hopefully it will drop down a bit next year if you dont claim. I just put some newer wheels on mine a week ago and only had to pay £20 for the remaining 6-7 months of my insurance year (with Endsleigh) so I was happy. And yes, tell you insurance company of any mods you do otherwise your policy is invalid and you have wasted that £900 you have paid them if you have an accident.
Pop along to a local garage and ask how much the spring changes will be as they might not charge too much really.
