Group buy strut braces fitted

Ok, just fitted front and rear B14 sentra alloy strut braces on my gti, got them from the recent group buy. Have to say they do look the part, they are adjustable aswell which is quite good. As far as weight goes they do weigh a lot less than the standard braces:

Old front 2.4kg
New front 1.35kg

Thats 1.05kg saved from the front

Old rear 2.8kg
New rear 1.0kg

Thats 1.8kg saved from the back
In total thats 2.85kg of weight saved for those who are interested. Anyway here's the pics

The thing about the weight is, for example thicker anti-roll bars generally weigh more for a reason so they wont flex so much. Im really not too sure about the rear one, it looks alot less rigid than the OE GTi one.

How much did they each cost out of interest?

Well the standard rear one is only a chassis brace, now that i've fitted a proper strut brace i didnt see the point in keeping it in. Plus i dont want a stupidly stiff rear, i'm not a track whore lol. Having said that i'm gunna buy a rear anti roll bar at some point.
As for price it worked out about £28-£30 ish cant remember exactly.
As for the support bit i dont think it does, lesser models didnt have one fitted as standard so it cant be that important

Is the front one the right way round?

I prefer the OE one because it braces between the turret tops.

Rear one looks cool, be even better with a brace between it and the OE brace (painted lime green CoV)

Yeah it is the right way, one of the mounts has a bit cut out where the bracket for the power steering pipe is on the right hand side

yeah i did think that aswell but theres only 1 way it'll go. they should've welded the brackets so that it goes straight across, the only downside i can see

Strut braces are primarily not a cosmetic mod :P Wrong section sunshine.

I'm glad I didn't go for a front strut brace, I reckon unless it's set up to be pushing quite hard on the strut tops it won't do much, the mounts look a bit flimsey. However the rear ones are definitely a lot stiffer than the front ones, and probably have much more positive effect. Even so, they came to £23 each plus postage, no complaints lol.

is the rear one the right way round aswell?

looks like ill be adding just over 1Kg to my almera as the standard rear brace is where me harness are fasten to

I dont think it matters which way round the rear one is, it fits both ways, i was lazy and put it that way so i didnt have to drop the seats lol
