GTi bodykit spraying and fitting

Hello all, I have at last got my hands on a Phase 2 GTi kit to put on my SRi  I am now obviously wanting to get it sprayed and put on. Just been to a couple of local bodyshops and one quoted me £250 just to put the front and back on and said the skirts would be really difficult to do as my car's a 5 door and they're from a 3 door so wouldn't give a price. The other bodyshop said the skirts would go on fine and it'd be £480 to spray and fit the lot. Am I alone in thinking this seems a bit expensive? Any suggestions of places to go in the Sussex and roughly what I should expect to pay would be great as I don't have the know how or tools to do it myself sadly.
Cheers in advance people.

Id avoid the people who think it would be hard to fit the skirts to a 5dr. theyre the same length! I paid 250 to have a rear bumper+splitter, tailgate and spoiler sprayed silver. Id say 480 isnt that bad.

I`d say do it yourself. Which would cost you about £20-£30 pound in paint and PU sealer. Just get a mate to help with the installation.

I need to do the exact same thing with mine, also needs de-rusting (and with phase1 not 2 kit), dont think it will cost that much though?

It doesnt seem that bad to be honest body shops are charging more nowerdays £120 per panel is the going rate!

Dan as I said to you, I've texted the guy that primed all the kit and will hopefully have a price for you soon.

I've been told hes very good - painted my friends mk2 escort rs bodykit and was a perfect match (on white) also hes just painted someones RX7 for gumball.

with the phase 2 skirts you will have a funny bit at the rear door,

ie the skirts run inside the front door and then come out and run allong top of the sill, i didnt realise this when i went to get mine fitted

see piccie

might not look so bad on your car coz its black, im going to get a section plastic welded in to this area so the return continuies right allong the door recess

PU sealer??? anyone? sorry don't know what it is :O

Matt

Poly-urethene, similar to scilicone sealer. its called Tiger Seal usually, NEVER get this stuff stuck anywhere valuable or visible!!!

Cheers all, would do it myself but I'm quite picky and would rather pay to have a proper job done than screw it up myself. Also cheers to Andrew Smith for the piccie of what the skirts looks like. Was going to ask but forgot. Hopefully hear from you soon Bren about the guy who did the RX7.

Extra question.....does anyone have a picture of the front splitter with the centre bar removed as thinking I might have this done?? Wanna see what it looks like first though.

that style looks a lot better on lighter coloured paints works as the spilter still stands out, but on darker paints it blends in and just looks like a standard bumper

spray it yourself dan, I sprayed my lasses kit and fitted it for £38, and it was fibreglass so had to do a bit of work to get it fitted, first time Ive ever done that kinda thing and its come out alright, although I could of done with an extra tin of paint, and that was silver too(which is hard to paint), blacks easy to paint
