GTRing an almera

Been sat here bored on a week off pondering my million dollar question.

Will an RB26DET fit in the almera engine bay and if so any ideas on companies silly enough to take on this challenge.
I think it's a worthwhile conversion seeing as i'll never afford a skyline for a good few years and from what i can tell no one has tried this.
Definately be a worthwhile feature for the shows then!

Opinions please guys!!!!

It will cost you that at least if it can be done i dont know but i doubt it very much as the engine is probablly to big for the bay and mounted the opposite way. plus it is set up for 4wd and the mera aint

the best turbo option on a gti is the pulsar gtir engine converstion mounted to the gti gearbox. 1.5k-3.5k depending on how much you want to replace and how much you can do your self. Search there are a few on here.

Fair play, it is an ambitous project if not a little over the top. strange what a sofa and no beer can do to a mans thoughts!

A) it will never, ever fit in an N15 engine bay without doing some serious mods. for example, either extending the front end inc chassis legs, wings and the lot or moving the firewall and dash further back.

B) There is no way you could have it running front wheel drive so you would have to either transplant the skyline running gear, pretty much impossible, or start with a Pulsar S-RV, and even then you would probably have to strengthen the drive shafts and propshaft.

C) Then theres the gearbox....i wont even go there!

Short answer, no. :D

It hasnt been done because its impossible, financially pointless if you're choosing that over a real skyline and an RB26DET doesnt exist.
You can pick up a Skyline GTS-T for about £5000, so you'd be better off starting with that

If i did fit it, i would be looking at getting it either RWD or 4WD, Maybe alot more research into it and a guesstimation in there. then i'll just buy the skyline :(

you would neeed to create a transmission tunnel so opening up the floor base and tunneling one in out of say a 200sx - the bulkhead would need modifying to do along with complete chasis strengthening.

Also - no offense if your asking if it can be done etc! then i take it you have never done an engine conversion - this to me tells me you will require everything to be done by someone else = LABOUR and lots of it!

after purchasing a decent engine 1K and to get it to somewere running you would be looking another 4-5K in labour and parts alone

buy a skyline!
