Handbrake Light On, Until I Brake Hard???

on the N16 I know the hand brake light flashes if the brake fluid is low but that is when I go round cornets and etc. but have a look at your brake fluid levels i am not sure but have a check anyway :-)
 
you got a gti or ga16/14 ie rear drums or discs?

if ga then remove your drums and inspect inside them, and check the cable for any snags etc :D
 
If you got a GTI mate its either your brake pads are on their way out and warning you or its your brake fluid, BUT brake fluid will be reduced if your pads are getting worn out so check your pads and if they're ok then put more fluid in
 
It's a GTi. Brake fluid is fine, pads are ok. Perhaps I should have mentioned that it kinda coincides with having my clocks out to replace my speedo that had stopped working.....
 
Just for your info, the sensor that puts the handbrake light on is on the handbrake lever itself, not the rear brakes, just to save you wasting your time underneath lol.

mines was doin this for a bit, i had removed my handbrake cables (snapped em) i think its cos there was no weight holding the lever down on the button enough,
 
Mine is doing this, try pushing the handbrake release button, as this made mine go away, so i think its a faulty earth on the lever
