Has any one bought one of these filters?

Hi All,

Has any body looked and or bought one of these? they say it will fit the almera but wanted to know what people think?

Says it is a Apiro filter, are these any good, i did a search but not many people seemed to have used an Apiro filter.

Link

Or should i just get a K&N or Pipercross etc..

Cheers

Just looks like a standard forced induction kit to me.

I'm never sure, looks like a similar design to the K&N stuff, but the K&N stuff is maybe 4-5 times the price. Are you willing to pay that for something that might not be better, just have a fancy name? ;)

k&n are the daddys or air filters even tho some ppl will say they have had better results with other brands

but its like he says its all about cost at the end of the day do you wanna pay k&n prices it looks good will look good under the bonnet and it has to be better than a standard filter

my motto is "You buy cheap, you buy twice"

im not saying that the most expensive is automatically the best, but its best to get a filter that has proven gains and good filtration.

Is that this one?
http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/shopping_cart.php?pName=apexi-induction-kit

If so is it usiversal fit?

Or do you guys know of a better site selling them?
What is a good price for one of these?
Do they fit without modification? (bar removing the original air box)

That is by far and away the cheapest you'll find porper ones (not the fakes on ebay). That particular one fits directly onto your MAF, you'll just need to make a bracket out of something to keep it steady.

ive ran K&N panel filters in my almera nd my micra, and i cannot fault either. id bet lots of dollar on K&N being the daddy. i know on pipercross filters the foam disintigrates, and most halfords style cheapo filters, the filtration is shat.

just putting my 2pence in there........

anybody got any idea how the apexi compare to the piperx? i see the test they done but not with a foam filter

Off the top of my head i'd say Foam isnt too great as generally it doesnt offer as much surface area as a 'ridged' cotton cone type filter would offer.

Id go with BMC's Carbon Dynamic Airbox, in the largest size possible.
Or a PiperCross VFC Viper or an AEM Long Induction Kit.

i have one of these apiro filters its quite good , there getting more well known round my area! my mates have them fitted aswel and they say it works well on their cars!compared to k&n

just be careful...the pipe crumples sooo easy mines in a rite mess now

Its not a universal one as such, the code to fit to the Nissan MAF is
500-A022,
That is for the one that bolts directly to the MAF,
The groupbuy I was a part of came from Driftworks, so just mention to them the model no. and they should sort you out.

Ive had a foam pipercross panel and an Apexi on mine. The panel is better than standard slightly, the Apexi is very loud. Ive swapped them over quite a few times, and I would say that the big Apexi cone is better. It feels better with it on.

As for Apiro, I cant say. They looked ok on the site when I was looking for something for my 1.6

Id go for BMC CDA if you can. Get the 1600 and above one obviously, and then if you can afford it, try and order some pipercross viper feed pipe in 76mm (the largest they did when I ordered). You can slip this over the feed side of the BMC and run it into the wing.

I havnt noticed anymore noise with my APEXi filter, need to sort out a cold air feed am yet to get round to it.
