Have I done summat daft by getting this clutch?

Because cash is tight at the mo, I`ve got this Ebay Clutch coming, (hoped it`d be here yesterday, but probably wont be here `til Tuesday at the earliest now).

But have suddenly started worrying that it`s not up to the job & wont like quarter miles very much (seriously want to get some times up this year).

I know I should`ve asked as soon as mine started slipping, but has anyone got any experience of these kits & are they any good for track days/quaters etc.?

Now I freely admint to driving it `properly` down the bypass, but would this cause this particular clutch to die prematurely?

That's the same seller as I was looking at discs/pads for. To be honest, I wondered if they were up to the job as they seemed so cheap ? Nissan charge quite a bit more for what looks like the same goods. So they're either a bargain or cheap rubbish - anybody have any experience of buying this stuff ?

It`s not the cheapest clutch on there, but I`ve used them before for pollen filters etc. & I think my drop links came from them too, but I`ve never had a problem with them (yet), so always use them if I can.

I think they get genuine parts in, but sell them off cheap.

They sell N16 discs and pads for about £2 less than my local motor factor (who do sell good quality stuff), so I'm not too sceptical of their prices :)

Nissan will always be a lot more expensive than smaller firms like this.

That sounds promising, might just give them a try then.

Good to know mate. They're half the price I paid for same items on my old Fiat Stilo

standard clutch was fine for normal to moderate driving and it bit pretty well even with the light fly, cant coment on the strip as i never atended one unfortunately.

I just run a standard clutch with a lightened flywheel. If i drop it into 2nd aggressively at say 45mph, it will slip for a moment then its fine

I could be wrong here, but my general thinking is that the standard clutch & gearbox are probably ok up to around 200 bhp/175 lb/ft torque. After that I'd think an uprated clutch & modified/different gearbox would be necessary in the long term. What d'you think ? Has anyone breached those figures with an Almera n/a engine on here ?
