head unit wiring help needed urgently

i bought my P1 gti mera today and when i got it home i fitted my head unit into it, it didnt have one in when i got it and the wires had all been cut so i had to test all the wires to find the ignition, battery and earth, that all went fine and i put my head unit in and it worked fine, BUT when i turn on the lights it blows the fuse for the rear lights so i took the head unit out and changed the fuse and they are fine but as soon as i plug the head unit in it blows again, it does it if the head unit is turned on or off.

So has anyone got any idea what is going on?

i have got it wired up as follows:

Blue wire from car = ignition live

pink wire from car = constant live (battery)

red and green wire from car = earth

is this right, or have i gone wrong somewhere?

head unit is an Alpine CDA-9851R not that it should make a difference.

oh and one last thing where is the fuse for the front side lights?

Cheers

Craig

thought the permant live was purple?

red and green cable links to your interior lights.

ground should be black

yea the constant live is a pinky purple colour.

so the red and green cable is to make the headunit go dull when you turn on the lights then, and there should be a black cable in there somewhere for the earth?
that might explain in then.

cheers mate

run a seperate live and earth from the batery, this will give you a much better sounding system, you have joined the earth up to the illumination wire
