Headlamp Bulbs Not Lasting!

Bloody things!

Anyone any idea why my Tino's headlamps are only lasting 7-8 weeks? Pain in the arse! The last lot I got from Halfords, xenon ones and £25 a pop. This is now twice they have lasted 2 months.

First thing to make sure is, when you change the bulbs, are you touching the glass part of the bulb? If you do that it'll make them break due to the grease from your finger tips causing a temperature variation on the surface of the bulb. Only other thing I can suggest is perhaps theyre too powerful for the bulb holder and drawing too much current? That would tend to cause problems with the bulb holder and not the bulb itself, but im sure I had a similar problem with 100w "rally" bulbs from halfords and they kept blowing.

Good thoughts Alan. The strange thing is, this is the 3rd set blown this year. (had the car since 03) and until the 1st change, they were original since I got the car new. The drivers side always go's 1st.

I had to take the entire headlamp off to replace it the last time, as it is a real pain in the erse to get to due to the screenwash funnel being right in front of it. Both lights are buggered now, so I will have to replace them tomorrow. Any idea which bulbs may last? Wonder if Halfords would gies my money back! :p
