Hello. 2000 almera 2.2 diesel here

Hello all....

Car is not new.....but new to me. I just moved to France with my fiancé and she has a
2000 Nissan Almera 2.2 turbo diesel. (2 door)
Runs and drives great, no lights..... Just a few squeaks and minor tune up I will do, But I do have one question!

First gear is extremely slow starting......is it normal? Zipping the round-abouts can be tricky if there is traffic since 1st is so slow! And easy way to help? Or engine parts I can inspect and maybe clean out?

I have scheduled: Inspect air filter, oil change, brake inspection and new belt (one is squeaking when started).
No mods at all. Just newer almera tailings from a later model and a new turbo (old one was shot, new Nissan turbo).

Any tips would be awesome! (As the diesel forum is private) :)

Welcome, post some pics:)

2.2Di is quite slow car, I own one and yeah, after checking everything from top to bottom, nothing changed. Acceleration is slow due huge turbo lag, reaching 2k rpm range takes a while. Learning how to control it in boost efficient range will make things a bit easier, practice practice practice

Having unfortunately owned one i wouldn't say it was slow ( just not fast ), or suffered turbo lag. Check the earth strap that goes to the gearbox, mine had snapped, and a new one made the world of difference to performance. I also cleaned the AFM.

Hello Rowdy,
Please can you provide a picture where i can find "earth strap that goes to the gearbox" on my Tino
2.2DI 2002.

What do u mean cleaned the AFM? - MAF

Thanks

Look at the front of the gearbox for a 13mm bolt and thick cable. That's the earth strap. Remove it all and check it for breaks.

and yup the AFM is the MAF, give that a spray with contact cleaner.

Hi Rowdy,

I have checked the earth strap and it looks like new. Also cleaned the MAF and there is no difference. This looks to be a common problem on Tino DI 2.2 but couldn't find anyone here that shared this experience.

Thanks

Well it could be something else causing the poor performance, or it could just be the way the car is.

To be honest is very strange that no one here is sharing some experience about Di Tino.I have met a guy that has same car as mine and he told me that has poor performance at any hill.I don't think 2.2 engine can have such a poor performance .

Then I went to Bosch service and after some diagnosis they told me that could be faulty fuel pump.

I have seen here a lot of members has DI Tino and no one is sharing some experience.

Thanks

Any idea where i can find

"neutral position switch"
According to this link, the part you are looking for is bolted to the transmission case. (Part number 11 in the illustration, OEM part number 32005-6M000) Only the 6-speeds seem to have an actual neutral position switch, the 5-speed has a generic position switch.

The peeps in the honestjohn thread suggested disconnecting the switch for fault-finding.

You are right, this is not for my Tino Di.I am not sure if this could be related I am having problem with P0120 is throttle position sensor error.
Here is the part -

Gaspedal 0281002425 BOSCH 189195M300 Nissan ALMERA N16 2,2 81 KW 110 PS Diesel

are we talking about same part like - number 32005-6M000

I didn't replaced it as i thought this might just need a strip down and clean of the throttle position sensor.

The faulty codes are gone from dashboard when Switch on-off engine. In the beginning i was scared but then i realized that this happen sometimes when car fell in to the pit.

What do you think Nugget Beercase?
