Hello all - New to this so please bear with me.

My last Nissan was err actually a Datsun, for those old enougth to remember a Datsun 120A FII Coupe and I bloody loved it. It had a 1.2 bullet proof engine (although hardly sporty) and in my opinion made the ford capri (which was the poor mans coupe back in the day) look like a wheel barrow.
Anyhow for some reason I never owned a Nissan since, that is until now.
I have recently traded in my old car for an Almera 2.2 dci sxe on an 03 plate with 84K on the clock. I arranged for my mechanic (a freind of mine but a bonafide mechanic) to service it. So of I go, love the torque, love that its a hatch as I have been crusing round in big spongy saloons for a while and I also love how it eats motorway miles (my job takes me all over the country). So far so good, Ive even nick named it "The Scud". However there is bit of a p[roblem with it and I am hoping someone out there might have some possible solutions for me. so here goes.
03 Nissan Almera 2.2 dci SXE (136 bhp) - Power cuts under hard acceleration (any gear) or under load (uphill on M/way 5/6th gear giving it a little throttle to accelerate or mantain speed). If I back off the pedal then back on the power is back. It just feels like it has run out of fuel for a split second or the turbo has cut out.
The last time it happened I did not back off and on the pedal to just to see what would happen,,, the power loss stayed,, until I had backed off and back on the accelerator pedal then boom power back again. The Scud (car) only behaves in this way under the conditions described, any other driving styles it is fine.
My first post and I and doing a war & peace number on you all,,, sorry about that,, but please would love to know if anybody has had same problem and if so how was it sorted.

Welcome :)

Power cut under load sounds like you're got a boost spike. The 'fuel cut' comes in when boost goes over 1.5 Bar. Standard the car should be running 1.25 Bar.

Are you running a Tuning Box at all? Or has the car been remapped do you know?
.

As far as I am aware is a standard car. No fancy after market bit or bobs fitted. It had a good service history and I had it recently serviced. I will have to ask my mechanic if he changed the fuel filter because Im not sure if he did. Its a good clean car and drives very well until I have to give it the big guns, as I said a quick off then back on the pedal and the power is back, a little weird.

Quite important to stay on top of maintenance on these, so regular oil changes and fuel filter will look after the turbo and injectors and pump :) I've experienced the fuel cut happening myself so I know how it feels, yes it's quite annoying! Odd that it's doing it on a standard car. Try giving the actuator rod a pull and make sure it's free. I hear sometimes they can get a bit jammed. You can also try an ECU/Fuel reset. The proceedure can be done by Nissan, or you can do it yourself for free as listed in the FSM, or head to the N16 Forum Resource thread linked in my signature.

;) Thx a lot will show these posts to my mate who looks after my cars. I like this car and want it running perfect.

Hi im also new 2 the club & have exactly the same car [Almera 2.2 dci sxe] on a 54 plate with exactly the same problem. I think its probably the MAF [mass air flow meter] causing the wrong air 2 fuel mix but i could b wrong. Have u got urs sorted yet if so please let me know what it was, or if anyone else has a clue what the problem could b please reply cheers!

First port of call for any problems with our engine. Cheap and something that can be done yourself:

Read any codes if the management light is on.
'Forte' injector cleaner (specifically this brand).
Oil change.
Clean EGR.
Check MAF & loom (loom known to fray in the engine bay so trace it back. Not common but worth checking. Clean MAF too).
ECU / Fuel Pump Reset.

If the problem is still there come back to us here or get it checked by a garage.

just the man to ask then by this reply m8, mine has started this after putting on a tuning box. kinda goes into limp mode till i turn it off and restart then runs fine as long as i dont boot it. just got home and stuck the reader on and got code p1272. Removed the box and thought id check the forum before taking it out to see if the fault has gone, any light u can shed here edk please ?

I can just about understand your problem I think. That code is for fuel pressure regulation faults. It can be fuel pump related, injector pump related or maybe suction control valve issue.
I'd say that your tuning box is causing the issue though. Take it off, leave it off. Problem solved.

Anyway curiosity got the better of me so i cleared the flag and took it out for a spin and its back to normal, guess i need to speak to bluespark tomoz about the boost kicking in the fuel cut, real shame cuz the car was flying and running very smooth prior to this fault occurring tonite on the way home and it was showing 64mpg on the motorway at a steady 80.

Fuel cut because of overboost I don't think is your problem. Sounds the tuning box is not good for the engine / set up incorrectly.

This might prove to be interesting reading, and whether or not you have component failure like in this link, I would remove the box and find out if you still get the same issues. If issues continue after box is removed then... http://www.nissan-navara.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14875

Just a simple case of bad tuning box putting car into limp mode. My DPT tuning box never gave me any trouble. Another old member also had a DPT box and had it tweaked by the chief tuner from DPT, and they were running quite a bit of power for just a tuning box and exhaust and they had no problems either.

Ran fine after removing the box no limp issues at at. Car ran fine on day 1 very smooth and quieter and like i said it was giving 64mpg on the motorway at a steady 80mph, accelerated like a missile comp to stock, then on the way home last night it started. Anyway ringing them up today if no solution to be had its a 30 day money back guarantee so not worried. Thanks for the input edk ;)

Spoke to Bluespark and they will gladly refund my dosh but suggested i change the fuel filter as they have had this prob before and a new filter cured it, cant hurt as ive no clue when it was last changed.
