Hello all!

Been lurking here for a while,so its time to say hello!
Picked up a P1 Gti today (my birthday) ,got out onto some country roads, and enjoyed the sunshine :)
Been impressed with the handling, but I have the suspicion this car might be a little thirsty........
Never owned anything with a gti badge on it,and been (pleasantly) surprised at the amount of other drivers that decide to have a go.... suppose this is normal?

Hi mate, not too bad on the fuel, I get just short of 250 miles on a full tank with mostly town driving and sometimes booting it, sometimes not depending on how i feel and i have a few mods. Could be worse. Anyway welcome, get some pics up!

And pay your membership!

Always seems to be chavs in blue VTRs for me.....bless `em!
VTS would be far more interesting though.

welcome to the forum, its a shame that i dont think my 1.6 would beat a vtr:( cant say ive tried tho.

Is your car standard mate? A lightly modded Ga16 should beat a standard VTR surely? Give it a try!
I can beat standard VTR's in my lightly tweaked 1.4. (CAI, Cat Back, advanced ignition, Adjustable FPR and no back seats).

Oh and Welcome to the forum SIRMIXALOT

welcome :) it's usually chavs in crap old renault clios with massive bodykits or mk1 puntos with the same ridiculous bodykit that try to do me....i like to tease them and let them think they'll win, then put my foot down and laugh as they sob into their furry steering wheel cover :D

welcome to the site mate.

Dale do you mean in a straight line or a proper race?

Hello Truckingracer,
Just been weaving around caravans, "sunday" drivers, and (this being Norfolk) lots of tractors.
Gotta love bank holidays!
Im from sleepy Taverham and drive a red Gti.

Thanks for the welcome people :)

Welcome mate. Pop over the county border to essex, weve got VTS saxo's, Punto Gt's,
106 Gti's all ripe for the beating. Nothing seems to discourage them, even me getting the jump on them in my little Sri! (oh and essex is full of tarts too!)

Another Norfolk Member! I am from Gt Yarmouth, am out towards taverham every wednesday as my mate lives out that way in thorpe marriott.

Welcome to the site mate!

Welcome! :)

I always wonder how the hell everyone seems to get such different MPGs though? I drove mine like some young ASBO holder (well, it got revved hard anyway usuallu up to about 80mph or more on the main roads 'cos there was a lot of coming out of the roundabouts and coming out of junctions on the road I used) and usually only did quite short journeys yet I usually got over 300 miles to a tank, HOWEVER, I did fill it to the stop, and drove it until there was only petrol vapour left in the tank, but either way it was still about 30mpg. Having owned a few cars over the years, that, IMO, is a pretty damn good average considering. :)
It didn't seem to improve very much when I drove it carefully though. It did improve slightly on longer journeys though.

Weirdly though, the heavier Primera 2.0 I drive now gets about 33mpg. It has less power (about 125bhp I think) but gets driven less hard, 'cos it seems to have quite a bit more torque, and I think it's geared a bit higher as well, but it's usually doing the same short-ish journeys...
