Hi!

I just bought an Almera se today, 2005! I was very happy too, until on the way home the info/air con/cd screen, which was dim to start with, faded away to black over the course of an hour. Reading the instructions offers no clue as to the problem....could this just be an old bulb that has had its day, or have I got a more serious problem in store? Any advice would be appreciated!
 
Although it's possible that it is a bulb, they normally go quite quickly - not over the span of an hour. I really hope the LCD unit itself hasn't failed, as that could be an expensive fix. If you have an auto electrician's nearby, I'd take it to them. As I'm not much cope with electrics, I'd rather leave it to someone who knows what they're doing personally.
 
Today, we had a similar kind of fault at the dealership, but a new unit cost less than repairing, so price up a new unit too!

ive got a feeling it may be the circuitry behind the display

with the resistance causing it to fade
