Hello everyone, owned 1998 Almera 1.6 SRi 5 door in black with only 24,000 miles on it for just under a year now and recently found out about this site. It's nice to see so much appreciation for a very much under rated car. Look forward to chatting in the forums

Welcome Dan: Wow, 24k miles! Must be the lowest mileage 'mera on here! Certainly the lowest mileage SRi that I've seen these last couple of years... Get some pics up: Let's see :D
 
Hey dan, welcome to the site, only been on here myself for under a week but things going good so far. I also own a 1998 s reg almera although mines a slx and got quite a few more miles on than yours!! think mines about 52k ish... I've done 14k in just over a year!!! :O
 
Will work on the pics, it's fairly standard at the moment. Got a K & N induction kit and pretty decent sound system but thats about it so far got some plans though as and when the money is available. When I bought it it had only done 19,000 miles and I nabbed it for £3000.
 
Cant be bad!!! Sounds like you got a really good deal there!!! I'm hoping to get the induction kit soon but have had a few concerns from people about it being placed ontop of the engine?!?! and worrying about the air intake?! I'm not too well up on things myself but hows it seem to you?!?!

I've had no problems with it whatsoever and it definately does give the engine a bit of extra growl as well as a small but respectable power gain. My kit is a K & N 57i induction kit which I fitted myself and was only about 50 quid. So if you want one go for it.

a k+n will reduce power on ur car u get severe heat soak on the air filter as its sucks up hot air off ur engine, not sure wt make it is but u can get one that moves filter away from engine ask one of the other members wit a sri they will tel u wich filter i mean i nah its chrome lol

Thanks for that Consett, :confused: wondered why I had a flat spot. I've been looking at an intake/induction kit from Smithy's Place which looks rather tasty. Is a bit pricey but from what I gather we do get a discount as AOC members. Am waiting on a price without filter as my K & N 57i should fit straight onto it.
If the price is ok will have one ordered asap.
 
You do actually gain power however if you want the best you gotta go with Smithys, mine was the test car for it, in fact thats my old car in the pic. The K&N for the N15 1.6 is a smaller diameter iirc the pipe takes the diameter back out to the more standard 80mm.
