Hello from a newbie

Hello all, i've joined this site cuz you seem to be in the loop with this model, i've owned several nissans (and other makes) and i think you can do a lot worse than buying a nissan. I own a "s reg" nissan almera sri 1.6 and am enjoying the car. I have a few questions firstly i used to own a nissan sunny 1.8 zx coupe which i loved to bit's and would love to put the engine in the almera if possible.
My next question is, i seem to get a horrible noise from the n/s/f wheel area when i brake but it does make a quieter noise when i do over a brow of a hill and it lifts off, it's not all the time and it clucks and vibrates a lot. Is this a comman fault or just my bad luck, i was thinking it could be the gearbox or drive shaft i took it to a garage but the didn't listen to what i said and just checked the brakes, and cuz it happens when i'm not touching the brakes i was very annoyed. If anyone could help me even a little bit i would be very grateful.

cheers guys

Try having a look at the dust shields behind the brakes, they can sometimes rub on the discs.
Could also be worn engine mounts? Or a loose heatshield on the exhaust?

Regarding engine swaps, browny put a CA18DE engine in his SRi and turbocharged it with 200SX parts, I think he is rebuilding the engine to make it stronger at the moment.

Thank you guys for responding so quickly, i don't think its the exhaust heast sheild i had the exhaust changed and i'm sure i kwickfit would of tried to up sell me, lol. if it was the disk sheild would i feel it so much? it's quite a strong knocking and i can feel the grinding aswell. the c.v joint could be a possabitilty i'll have to get someone to have a look, and to check the engine and gearbox mounts. could it be the sespension?

I looked at that guys conversion..... wow he's the man. i knew it was the same engine as the 200sx but i was sort of hoping to make my life easyer by dropping the sunny's engine and box in (like when people put the metro turbo engine in the mini) and change the mounts. some people said it was a poor choice of engine for him to choose, is this true cuz i never had any problems with it, it pulled to 8500rpm and i cained anything from corrado vr6's to done up mk5 rs2000. great fun lol
