hello from newbie,

hello all new here and have just bought my daughter a 1500 almera 2006 and she loves it, nice wee car.
But as usual there have been issues so im looking help on here.

first the car is in super condition lots of MOT left on her and she had a replacement gearbox just before we bought it ( reciepts to prove) no issues at all up to now.
first is a strange one and has only happened once but need to sus out what is happening as i dont want my daughter caught out somewhere remote and alone.

She went to start the car yesterday and nothing, dead as a dodo, no power no ignition light nothing, remote would not work either to lock it up again.

I checked the fuses and all fine, checked all the battery connections and all tight and clean, checked for any loose earths as the gear box had be out and replaced but all are tight and look clean. tried several time but dead, then after about 6 goes we got dash lights again and she has started fine eversince?
strange one anyone have a clue what to check please.

second is we are getting a strange rubbing sound from the rear wheels, sometimes when braking but more often when slowing down for a corner or slowing down on a down hill bit. brakes are very good and only just passed moy a month ago. I will get a look at the rear shoes but anything else to look at please ( no mud flaps so thats not rubbing, but it sounds like rubbing.
Cheers
Ron

Electrical issue could be the main battery fuse. They tend to fracture causing pior connectivity, change that first as its a cheap place to start.

Rubbing could be the wheel bearings, give them a check when you inspect the rear shoes. I know you say its just been MOTd but cars are now allowed to have play in the bearings so long as they are not 'rough' on rotation.
