Hello! Help needed for a little car trouble!

Hey guys

I know this probably ain't the right section but as I am new poster it's the only one I can post in so your help would be appreciated. I have just purchased a 2004 Nissan Almera 1.5 SE and within about 2 weeks the engine has started to make a noise like a strangled duck on start up. Also when I take the clutch up to the biting point the car make a whiny noise and there seems to be a slight rattle in the engine when driving at lower speeds. Given I only have a three month guarantee on this car I want to get this fixed asap but do you guys have any ideas what the issue might be? Just so I have an idea before I take it back to the dealer in case he trys to get funny. I have a suspicion the starter motor is a little sus but the noise coming up to biting point is a little worrying as is the engine rattle when driving.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

sounds to me like bearings in the gearbox or release bearing for the clutch. im not that clued up on N16 almeras but im sure some more people will be along with opinions soon

Starter sounds goosed perhaps and engine rattle? Could be the chain! Get it checked out soon as a new chain replacement is expensive!!

Went to the dealer the f@"@@r knew the starter motor was screwed when he sold it - but have given a wipe down hoping it would last. Over winding by a turn apprentley. He just wanted someone to buy it then get it fixed under the warranty. I will not be recommending him to anyone and I have just finished reporting him to trading standards - wrong person to try and screw over.

Fair play to you. This should not have happened in the first place, he gets what he deserves. Hope this doesn't put you of the Almera though!

well done, i have had problems with a garage recently... sold me an n16 2001 1.5activ.... still dont have apaper copy of the servic history... but the local nissan garage have proof its been serviced every year from new. also have a Engine management light on..

you pay the extra for a garage and still get conned. its a lose lose situation...

im glad you reported them to TS

To be honest, with a dealership, they don't have time to check for every fault. A mechanic will give it a safety check or a service if it requires.

If it can't be faulted on the day when it's checked over, then it will just go back on the pitch to be sold again.

Is it a dealership operating under an automotive company? If so, phone their customer services. Trust me, where I work, we fear Nissan more than trading standards... the better feedback we get, the more money we get, cheaper vehicles etc.
