Hi

I have just bought a DCI 2.2 SXE and so far love it, after drivnig around in 1.2 Clio for a couple of months. I appreciate that there has been a post about a recall on the model in July 06 for something to do with the turbo, were owners contacted and how would I find out if my car was recalled/ if the work was done as the original service history didn't come with the car? Along with that does anybody have an spare owner's manual for this model, they could sell me?

Thank you

Hey mate welcome to AOC! I aint too sure about how you can tell about the turbo, but if you took it to Nissan they should be able to help you out!!

Welcome!

You need to contact a Nissan dealer and provide them with your vin number so that they can check whether your car has had the recall work carried out or not. I wasnt contacted about it and i dont think the previous owner had been either.

Just to say Hi, Matrix8958.
I'm not yet an Almera owner but am searching for a 136 SXE - have my heart set on one after looking at performance, economy, what you get etc. Will be 5 to 20,000 miles, age indifferent, but at present nothing meets my eye (such a crazy disparity in prices). Hoping prices will drop soon - winter months, Xmas.
Can I ask - do you really enjoy the car ?
Is the ride choppy at times - as I've read ?
Road & tyre noise ?

Really cheeky - how old was the car, what mileage, and what did you pay ?
Don't answer this last lot if you don't want (just wanted some more ballpark figures).

Have a Cavalier 1.7TD - 207,000 miles, have owned it for the last 187,000 of those. Engine still superb but too many bits going wrong + rust creeping in.

Hi
Cracking car, ride can be a bit choppy but soon get used to it, will pull from low revs very cleanly and goes like nothing I've ever driven before, it is quick, will sit at over 80mph doing 60+ to the gallon. Lots of equipment sat nav is brilliant. Mine is 3yrs old with 45k and I paid circa 5.5k private sale, needed two tyres on the front. Overall more than happy, easy car to drive plus the wife likes it, half the battle

Matrix,
Thanks for reply. Glad you say the wife likes it - mine doesn't like the looks. Told her 'perhaps you'd prefer a BMW 1 Series ?' Just about the ugliest car out. She likes the Astras - I think the latest Vauxhalls are SO in your face - Essex girls cars.
Still looking for Almera - will keep you posted (probably January, had a problem with the Cavalier wiper arms - now resolved - so can afford to wait for prices to drop, they'd better.).

How often do Nissan recommend oil changes ?
Whatever, I'll do mine at 2/3 rds of what they say. After all, the engine is the 'biggest' component.
Again, thanks. And happy motoring.

Not sure about the oil changes have not got that far in the Ebay purchased ahnd book, I was after a Fabia VRS but they are small compared to my Mera, which reminds me a lot of Golf TDIs in the way it GOES

To Matrix,
Thanks for reply.
Have also been looking at 1.9 TDI PD Skodas - including the vRS, these are a bit out of price range but quite fancy one for economy with performance. Funnily enough wife really likes these - light upholstery colours look a nightmare though.

.My other half: "It's just a bloody car."

Oh how familiar that sounds  mines having a go next week even though she aint passed her test hoping to convert her to the "car" side

I told my beloved..

"If you want to learn to drive I won't stand in your way."

In fact I won't stand within 12 miles of where she is taking lessons - she's the first to admit she's deadly in shoes..
