hello all i have just bought a black 97 Preg gti she has done 90k, FSH, hpi clear and is completely rust free,needs a new front bumper though as it has had a bit of a knock and is pushed in a bit she cost me £1300 which i thought was pretty good.i used to have a 100nx and i see there is someone on here with one but I wanted something with a bit more poke.
I live in Eastbourne,East Sussex if there is anyone around the area?
also I see a girl driving a red sri on my way to work in bexhill in the mornings maybe your a member? anyhoo thats me im sure i will be asking plenty of questions soon, im picking up the beast on saturday from hastings and will start modding as soon as i get her home.

nice one on owning an NX :D

I did have a P2 GTi but had to get something with a bit less poke because of insurance costs/petrol, so i downgraded to the 100nx, and proceeded to spend the value of the car again on sorting the rust out lol

But the Almera is a good car man, perhaps not the giant killer some people on here will have you believe but with afew well chosen mods they can be really quick cars, that are also extremely reliable and tick all the right boxes, i would have never sold mine had it not bein for insurance, now i dont think i'll ever sell the NX.

Out of interest what was your nx like? and what mods (if any) did it have etc?
 
Welcome, and like Kelv said, standard GTi performance is nothing to write home about, but £1000 can sort that out lol, I just like the overall quality of them, speed comfort, looks(p2 GTi) and handling.

K33 ELV my nx is lowered on KYB gas shocks and -40mm Gmaxx springs it has a webber carb with a K+N bolt on filter with cold air feed,TSW 16inch multi spoke alloys (missions to clean them) 5 inch jap style back box and it weighs about a 3rd less than when it was new due to all the metal turning to rust and falling off! i have someone interesred in buying it but if they dont want it i will strip it,if you need any parts mate just give me a shout

craig welcome, i`m in hastings fella, if you see me drivin around pull over and have a chat, i`m always around eastbourne of a weekend, you can`t mistake my car mate, it has a speed camera test vehicle sticker in the back window.
although not sure how much longer i will have my gti as it`s up for sale if i don`t px it for my new car when i get it.

Actually i do! if its a carb one it will have ablack interior wont it? if so im after quite alot of bits if they're in good condition, mainly the doorcards and the rear arch covers (with the big pockets in!) and possibly the dash/glovebox/fuseboxcover....im trying to make my grey interior black!

also need the drivers side black plastic surround for the foglight

so just afew bits lol, but i am desperate for black doorcards mainly! if you decide to strip it im here:D
 
boghopper i have seen you a couple of times when i was in my works van and i have seen your car at TSW garage in bexhill, i work for autolec in bexhill delivering parts hopefully see you around

K33 ELV i do have all the black interior for the nx but its not in the best of condition seats are ok and passenger doorcard is good but i had some welding done for the mot and when they did the sills they caught fire to the carpet and it has slightly melted the drivers side dash at the bottem round the fuse cover area and on the drivers doorcard around the speaker grill, the rear pannels are scratched quite deeply due to previous owner putting the roof pannels behind the seats and the corners of them have rubbed up against them. as soon as i know whether i am selling or stripping i will let you know and if i do strip it i will send you pics of all the parts your interested in and you can decide if they are to damaged for you or not, also where abouts you from as postage would cost a bit, in in eastbourne but i go up to eltham in s/e london sometimes to see my girlfriend at her uni if you could meet somewhere?
 
Yeah most of the rear pocket things ive found have had huge gashes in them off the roof, if the passenger's side doorcard is in good condition though i'll take it but like you said when you decide send me some pics, we'll sort something out about postage dont worry :)

How do you find the almera compared to the NX then? interesting that you've gone the other way to me (sold an NX and bought aGTi) would be good to hear what you miss/like etc!
 
like the performance of the GTi, i miss the t-tops from the nx and it had a more 'sporty' feel to it coz the seats are lower to the floor of the car in the nx and it had more 'sex' appeal than the almera its more practical though. i like the fact that the almera is bit of a sleeper though, looks like an average hatchback but put your foot down and it goes pretty well, most people dont expect that where as the the nx looks faster than it is.
