hello every one

just thought id sign up, i have been offered a red almera gti and going to look at it on wednesday.its an r reg and in really good condition so the father in law says!but can any one tell me honestly is it worth the group14 insurance?i have been a ford man having rs turbos rs2ks etc, i thought it would be nice to have a change and be different.also i have asked the father inlaw if its got the skirts etc but he doesnt no lol would it have the extras?

thanks guys

Ah ok, theres a few bits of advice on buying them, main thing to watch out for is rust. My old SRi was damaged beyond repair because of rust, and I have scrapped two GTis because of it.
Main places are wheel arches, where the bumper meets the body, sills, bottom of the doors, behind the numberplate, sunroof, around the windows, basically anywhere water can collect, also lift up the boot edging carpet and take a look at the inner arches where the rear seatbelt mounts are.
Engines are generally ok as long as they havent been starved of oil. No cambelts as it is chain driven. Mileage generally not an issue - my girlfriends GTi has covered more than 200,000 miles now!

thanks corbs, so you would say they are worth the money and insurance group?ie for performance reliability and running costs

welcome along fella, yes,yes and yes after owning about 20 cars and now on my 2nd gti, its the only one that still makes me smile every time i drive it, get about 300 miles per tank (heavy right foot). go for it or you could live in regret:D

You're asking that in the wrong place fella!

I've had my GTi over 3 years and i still love driving it, i've only done a few mods to it and still makes me smile. It's not the fastest thing on the road but you'll surprise alot of cars.

Insurance isnt too bad due to the age of them,

I love my GTi i'm on my second one dude to some girl rear ending me. But if you have had Rs Turbos and your into going fast well a tunes RS turbo will be faster. Standard maybe not but who has a standard Rs Turbo they piece of piss to get 200 bhp from however the Almera aint.

Blackpool is ford country so i see Escorts /Fiesta turbos cossies all sorts and for how fast they are is good but they always brake. The Almera wont.

Try one mate they handle really well and aint slow/
