Hey scoobysn7x,
I did this reverse mod today, the guy I bought the car off had fitted his own aftermarket filter, but gave me the nissan parts he took out.
I had these parts:
1 Top Left: Bottom of air box
2 Top Right: Top of air box (with panel filter)
3 Middle: Pre-filter resonance chamber
4 Bottom Left: Intake
5 Bottom Right: Post-filter resonance chamber.
I'll try to get some pictures of it in-situ tomorrow for you, but basically what I did was the following:
-Took out the aftermarket filter
-Took out the air channelling hoses, cables ties etc
-Jacked up the front left wheel, and took off the roadwheel and removed part of the mudguard forward of the wheel, so that i could get to the cavity underneath the chassis.
-This cavity is where the pre-filter res. chamber goes, with the little intake at the top through the hole in the chassis.
-Then I unclipped the air hoes to the throttle body so that I could get the post filter res. Chamber in, this goes again underneath the flow of air, you'll see in the pics.
-Then I put the lower air box in, screwed down and put the top back on.
-Had a fiddle around refitting the air hose to the engine and top of air box (that bloody air con pipe is a pain in the arse).
-plug in the intake pipe then, to both the air box and lower/pre Res chamber.
-put the mudguard back, and the wheel.
and that's what my system is like at the moment (sorry, not quite as basic as i'd intended), I'm fairly confident that's how it should be.
ONE QUESTION I DO HAVE for people with OEM air filters is, "Is the air intake really behind the headlight?, Does it not poke out into the oncoming air at all...?"
Cheers,
Mike
