Help, I`ve got some airbag seats, but need some advice please.

Hey guys, I`ve finally got some airbag seats for the GTi, :D but need some advice.

The cables that go from the seats to the car have been cut (pic below).

The plugs are still connected, but the other end of the wires have been cut.

I`ve looked in the Haynes manual & it says "25.7: Where applicable, disconnect the wiring connectors, then lift the seat, complete with the rails, from the vehicle."

What I want to know is, does the above mean that the end of the wire that`s been cut has a plug hiding under the carpet somewhere (so all I need to do is find 2 new cables), or am I going to have to re-wire the plug to the wire that`s already there?

Any advice greatfully appreciated.

Fred, i did a bad thing :O

haha, when i put the bucket seats in i tried cutting the connectors off the car end of the wires and taping them together to put the airbag light out, it didnt work and then i found out it needed a resistor etc.

the wires should still be taped together under each seat (in a metal hole in the floor if i remember right) so you may need to either cut the connector off the seat ones and solder the wires together - or get some connectors for the car side (the ones i cut off) and solder them back on.

Thanks Kelv! :slap: ;)

I had a rummage around under the seats & found the wires you taped up, but I couldn`t find the other end of them, :( (there`s quite a few running behind that cross beam) so I`ll probably take the carpet up when the seats are out, to see what goes where.

If they`re just really long wires that plug in somewhere under the dash, I`ll see if I can find some intact ones & replace them, as I don`t really want to bodge the existing ones if I can help it.
