My car (2002 Almera) is making clicking noises when starting up, vehicle starts up no problem but this click noise when turning over has just started all of a sudden, any ideas as to what this may be?

Many thanks in advance.

Ben.

what engine is it mate? and can you discribe the tick a bit better how long does it last for exactly when does it start ?

The engine is a QG18DE - the best way to describe it is the noise you get when your lighting a gas stove with the electric clicker, the clicking last until the car turns over, roughly about a second if that.

Thanks.

Does anybody know a cheap place to source a starter motor for a QC18DE? Nissan want £312 for one, f**k that!

starter motor

Don't know if it may help. When I had starter motor probs, I took it to an Auto Electrics place and the guy there fixed it. They can also recondition them if they are gone. Cheers Ingrid

push your car back and forward to solve the sticking starter or wack it with a stick, no seriously get a recon or go down the scrappy, garanteed starter problem

It's not a similar problem to the GA engines having cam chain rattle on starting is it?

Mind you that's more of a knocking sound ;)

Thanks for the advise guys, fixed the problem a month or so ago, it was the starter motor which i was pretty annoyed about, got the starter motor and did the swap myself so only cost me the cost of the starter motor (£101) although i found out that there are 2 different starter motors on that model, and as you can guess i had the wrong one, but with a little rewiring i managed to make it fit.
