help please

please forgive a newbie if this has been asked before. My battery on my nissan almera 1.8 sport is low (still enough power for heater fan, central locking etc). I believe that if i remove my battery for charging i will have to try and find and re-input my radio code, so therefore my question is, do i do this or would i be better just getting a jump start, my battery is only low i assume because of the cold weather and with me being hospital it has not been started in a while. Again apoligies if this has already been asked and assistance appreciated.

If you've got jump leads to hand or know someone who does I'd go for that :).

how do you know your battery is the problem ?

have you started the car to check the voltage across the terminals to make sure your alternator is charging it?

because giving the car a good drive should charge the battery fully!

if the alternator is not charging the battery then it is the alternator you need to change not the battery!

before you start removing any thing get a voltmeter and check it is charging!

if it is charging and your getting a good 14v (well 13.9 if i remember) then you needa new battery as it is not holding its charge!

which you then have a good 30 minutes or so i think to change your battery over which should only take you 2 minutes max
