help with stupid suspension.

Got an issue with a p1 n15. We have had an annoying creaking noise from the suspension when steering at low speeds. So I found that the top mount Bearing was knackered on the driver side. Replaced that. Along with the bottom arms, rod ends and drop links. Now a few weeks later. We are having a serious problem with the same side. There isxthe same creak as before but more worryingly a loud popping noise and a rattle as if something is lose. Ive checked the torque specs and there is no obvious play or wear on any components. It feels horrible to drive so its ofc the road for now. Any ideas as im stumped. I thought shock absorber itself but I dont believe it would make all this racket.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Any update with your problem? The parts you replaced are sitting out in my porch waiting to go in because I assumed that they were the problem parts! I hope it's not the rack!

yep springs are set fine. its annoying as i know most of the fwd nissans well, and i can pinpoint problems quickly. this has me stumped. gonna do a strip down and check today. pics of my findings later :)

Good man let us know how you get on soon as!

Right stripped down both sides before I started, I noted that the problem side was sitting an inch higher than the driver side. Upon dissassembley l, I found that the droplink boot was ripped already. But there is no play in it yet. The springs were both fine in condition and measured the same length. Checked the top mounts and both moved freely even when compressed. I pulled up and down on the lower arm and there was no creak ( thought might be a dry lower arm bush?). Re aligned the top mounts and tightened everything up under load. And guess what. Still f**king creaking. Still sits higher too......

Bump stop ok?
Both the struts identical? Phase 1 and phase 2 have the lower spring seat in different locations. It may have been swapped at some point for the wrong version?

Still oe mate. Annoyingly it drove fine when it was standard. They are both the same. Its so confusing. I mean ive had more sucess with merc suspension than this tiny nissan :(

Sounds like a fucking nightmare. Hardly a sheared cog in the steering rack?

So is yours standard or not?
I didn't say aftermarket. One shock may have worn so was replaced with the wrong phase version.
Did you put the dampers side by side? The design difference leads to 1" height difference which you mentioned. Unless you looked for it specifically you may not have noticed.
