hey alll

hey there , just recently joined the forum , as I've just bought myself a phase 1 gti as a bargain and looking for a bit of help on it.

Seem to be struggling to find places that do aftermarket parts and more specifically exhausts, back boxes etc.

Also, just a quick question as well, as I've got a slight problem with the handbrake light staying on when handbrake is released... now a few people have said that it could be down to brake fluid being low and maybe keeping the light on .. or is this not the case ??

Pretty much new to gti scene and a real noob so to speak... bought the car for a steal, but has been standing for a couple of months until I got it.... due for its test soon too!

So any help would be appreciated guys

thanks dyna :)

The handbrake light is very possibly the brake fluid level as this happened on my old one and that was the issue.

Welcome! theres quite a bit of info in the members rides threads regarding aftermarket accessories, take your time searching that and the GTi tuning section (need to become a paid member but worth it :) ) and there should be plenty of info there. Best advice would be to keep it simple to start with and don't rush into buying anything, check what others have got and their feedback from it. Your best friend is the search button :)
Hope you enjoy the club!

welcome to the club

the handbrake light could be as simple as a faulty switch that is located underneth the handbrake assembly, cant miss it when you take the centre box out

failing that it might be a bad earth on the handbrake switch wire, located under the trims around the handbrake lever. top the fluid up first though as chances are thats the problem, had it with my new gti the other week. as for exhaust, popular manifolds are ss auto chrome, de cat from ebay, janspeed or scorpion for cat back exhausts :)

edit: typing with controller on ps3 means i fail at quick reply lol

Yeah very rare, a member on here called 'o_dog' did quite a few fibreglass ones but he's hard to get hold of now. The fibreglass ones are better than the originals though, I have had both and the nissan ones crumple like paper.
