hey back again! *now with pics!*

Hey all, i havent been on here for a while due to my gti being off the road :( i had to replace the bottom end bearings on it, but now its up and running again beautifully!! looks like i caught the bearings before it got too bad! now im back for good lol. Only bummer thing is now that my tax is due at the end of this month all £190 of it!!! :(

hope everyone is ok, it would be nice to see some of you about!!

i had to rescue it, i love that car, lol, i havent yet seen another loden green gti aound my area, which could be a good thing i suppose!! lol. ive got some decent all ordered from a mate and a new oil filter ready to go on next week or week after, i only got cheap stuff in there at the moment just to flush it through, :D
 
did you do it yourself?

just im wondering whether to go nissan for genuine bearings and pay the extra or get ACL/King bearings?
 
HI, yes the greens are getting rarer especially seeing as i cut one in half lol

with a little help from my dad as it was a first for me to rebuild the bottom end. Yeah i got the parts from nissan as its only down the road in millbrook, the bearings were about £70 for all of them, one grade of bearing was different at the front of the engine, the job wasnt as bad as i thought it would be! Its totally up to you. there should be a 4 digit and a 5 digit number on one of the crank weights (i think), the garage should need the 4 digit number which tells you the bearing grades, mine was 0111. if you need any info please ask and i will try and help. i know some torque settings for the con rods etc. :D

i haven't seen another green gti yet, so ill have a big smile on my face till i do!! ive seen a black one in millbrook but i dont think he would be on here.

Next month i will start tidying it up, i desperately need to find a front spiltter as the bloke before who had it hit a fox and it had to come off so the front bumper is a bit of a state due to lacquer peel, stone chips, etc. Next month i will get the back windows tinted and think of a colour scheme for nice alloys, i was thinking maybe black alloys with a gold lip or something? i dunno, lol:confused:

I used to see a loden green gti on hill lane a few years back all the time.
I was going to buy a loden green gti a few years back as well....it didn't have the full kit but was in mint conditon.
I used to cruise up and down shirley in the silver almera:D

do you still go up and down shirley? i havent had my almera for that long, bought it this year, you still got a mera?
