Hey Hey!

Hey.

New owner of an Almera 2003 plate 'S' model.

I have two questions which I hope you experienced owners can help me with!

Firstly, I want to fit an aftermarket stereo, and from the research I have done so far, I believe I will need three separate parts, including two fascias and some cradle type thing, is that right?

Plus, what sort of price do you think I will be looking at to get an after market one fitted including all the necessary bits and bobs. I'm not after anything fancy, just something bog standard.

Secondly, I want to fit an aftermarket exhaust tail pipe, not an actually replacement exhaust, just one of those jobbies that fits over the original exhaust.

Does anyone know what type/size will fit on the Almera exhaust pipe? ... Has anyone done this?

I appreciate your help chaps! :)

Hello welcome mate :)

You'll be needing this http://motors.shop.ebay.co.uk/items..._trksid=m270.l1313&_odkw=n16+stereo&_osacat=0 (not the tino one obviously). Check which colour you're ordering though as they do varry. I don't think you need anything else but maybe someone else can confirm that.

Check out Halfords website as they sell a good selection of headunits.

You'd just like a tailpipe tip? I've got a stainless steel Nissan one you can have for a tenner ;) I'll get pics to you asap.

Hello!

Well the head unit should not be to expensive, cost me £20 to get it fitted, 15 for the facia and 50 for the remote adapter + the cost of the stereo

As for the exhaust tip, EDKs Nissan one will fit a dream obviously, but some people (Most of my mates) say it looks like a diesel, as it points down, but hey ho!

Hope this all helps

Matt

It doesnt point down actaully Matt. The exhuast itself does, but the tip is straight. In fact it's almost identical to the one Garnz/Chris180 bought at JAE.

Welcome to the club mate.

I did my own stereo, My N16 is a couple of years younger than yours but I don't think it's much different unless you've got factory fitted sat-nav which might complicate things.

You'll need a fascia plate and a harness (wiring adaptor), Chances are you could do it yourself - it's a pretty easy and ten minute job.

I can give you links to the parts you need but as 2003 was the year the old phase 1 N16 Almera was replaced by the newer phase 2 N16 I'd need to know which you have to know if I can tell you exactly what you need and how to do it,

If your registration is **03*** it's probably a phase 1, if it's **53*** it's probably a phase 2 (phase 2 models have the plastic mesh grille under the front bumper). Since 2001 the first two letters in the reg tell you where the car was registered, the first two numbers tell you when (0* is march 200* and 5* is september 200*).

Let us know which you have and we'll see what we can do :)

Bear in mind that the chances are your steering wheel remote will not work with an aftermarket stereo, though,

I know what you mean edk, it does point straight out but it does slope slightly but not as much as the main exhaust itself.
