Hey there, having been a Nissan Micra man beforehand, im looking at an Almera, 1.6 saloon on a P-Reg, dont know if you guys have any advice on this, things to look for etc? Im 99% goin for it, so then ill be on here for good!
 
glad to see some one else with a 1600... i have just got a 1.6 sri and think it is a nice car! not been on here long but have found everyone very helpful. dont know of many probs with the cars... i got mine with a blown head gasket and am replacing the engine with a primera lump
 
welcome to aoc mate! good luck with buying the almera, as for things to look out for..
1. rust - especially round the back archs,
2. gearbox/clutch - these tend to be a common thing that breaks in them, especially if driven hard.

other than that, maybe just the usual, regular service, bodywork.. etc etc..

Check the condition of the wiring on the sidelights, its a common fault that they corrode over time. Again, rust on arches and condition of the rear of the sill, my old 1.4 was very corroded there and cost me a bit to get sorted.
 
Welcome mate, rust on rear arches and in some cases front where bumper meets wing, other than that and the above................happy motoring.

well rather worrying in most peoples case, i havent a clue what colour or spec she is!! Just waiting for her to come in Part Ex ( i work at a garage at weekends, and used to be a bodywork man), so the bodywork doesnt worry me! I know that sidelight problem, same as the micra has! Done all that with that, so shouldnt be hard with this!!

Anyone know if Almera lowering springs from the hatches will fit the saloon?
 
I am 98.9% sure that everything on the car is the same apart from the shape and the rear lights, and maybe the rear bumper.

N15 Saloons aren't that common over here, you will see many many more hatches.
 
well i have a GTi interior now, and front bumper, so im a happy bugger, just waiting for the car to arrive tuesday. she is a 97 1.6 slx saloon, nice mota, drives really nice now!! just need to commence the modding next week!! thanks guys!

What happened to the bumper and interior? :confused:
