hey :)

Hey everyone :)

Just bought a 1999 Almera GTi...love it! First nice car I've ever owned! Got a couple of questions though, if someone could maybe help answer them, I'd really appreciate it! :P

ok, first question...is there a Hayne's manual available for the SR20DE engine? I know the Nissan Almera one doesn't cover the GTi, but from what I hear there are a few Nissans with the same engine (Pulsar?)...just wondered if anyone could recommend a manual?

secondly, does anyone know what the capacity of the oil tank is? Want to do an oil change, so I know it's got some decent stuff in, but don't want to start it without having enough oil!

OK...I think that'll do for now! Have another question regarding something I found on my engine, which doesn't look standard, but I'll wait until I've got a picture before I ask what it is!

Thanks,

Rach.

Hello and welcome..

Good choice in car, hope you enjoy it.

The P10 Primera haynes manual covers most of what you need to know for the engine.

Thanks :) just starting to do a few mods on it...starting with painting the rocker cover and manifold to protect it, paint the calipers to stop them rusting, got some seat covers ;), new k&n air filter (don't know whether to invest in an induction kit at the minute)...bodywork's spotless for rust, so intend to keep it that way! One step at a time :P

ok...will invest in one of those then! They always come in handy.

Thanks very much for replying

Welcome.

Seat covers??? Ph2 GTi is one smart looking car(says a almera addict). And properly modded can turn into one hell of a car.

Like you say just do one thing at once, then if you don't like what you've done, take it off.

HI, take it youll be at the derby cruise today (saturday) being from east mids area

oil capacity is 3.4 litres from memory.

hey everyone :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! Didn't know about the Derby cruise, so no didn't go unfortunately...will look out for the next one :)

lol phase 2's are awesome, it's just the interior isn't to my particular liking ;) it's better than a lot of cars though!

Ecotek valve

Hey guys :)

I'm not sure where I should post questions, so for now I'll stick them on here.

In my first post I mentioned something strange that was on the engine, that I didn't think should be there...well I was right! The previous owner's fitted an ecotek valve...I'm not the biggest fan of these, as I think they're just a cheap alternative to an induction kit. Is it worth removing it - especially as I'm fitting a new k&n air filter...or is it ok just to leave it as it is?

Might fit an induction kit eventually, when I've saved up the cash to get the engine remapped, will I need to remove it then? Don't know an awful lot about the things, as I've never looked into buying one - I presume they just let more air into the engine?

Oh well, thanks in advance for your help guys :)

:welcome:

the ecotek valve has nothing to do with the air filter so just leave it there it's not doin any harm (probably no good either  )

you should get an air filter and a cold air feed goin to the front of the car somewhere, that will sort out the air filter question

p.s -underthe bonnett is very tight to fit the cold air feed but im sure you will figure it out ;)

Thanks for your help Shaun...ok I'll leave it be then, it's tucked out of the way, so, like you said, not doing any harm!

I've seen a couple of cars where the cold air feed pipe has been fed through the engine, and out of the underside of the car...

Just finished painting the parts of the engine, not been able to do where the spark plugs are as I haven't got my wrench with me to do it!...magnecor leads are in the post, as are ngk iridium plugs.

Just about to fibreglass the bumper, where the previous owner whacked it into a kerb ...getting resprayed on Wednesday.

Will post some pics of my car on the member's rides section soon....
