Hi All
Hope no-one minds me joining as I have an Almera as well albeit a slightly bigger body than everyone elses on here. For those that don't know, a Tino is a V10 variant (MPV shape like a Scenic)but uses the same mechanicals(or so the dealer said) as the standard Almera range. Only had it three months so far and only had 2 minor problems if anyone can suggest a solution / cause.
First one is occasionally it takes a lot of turning over to start and needs the accelerator flooring to get it to burst into life. Of course never does it when we take it to the dealer for them to try and fix. Doesn't seem to matter if its warm or cold but does co-incide with the fuel tank being less than a quarter full. I thought all these modern cars had a ECU thingy that could be plugged in to indicate faults that had occured but the dealer reckons not? Its had the cam position sensor changed under recall so it shouldn't be that
Secondly, occasionally the rear off-side door will unlock as normal, but when we come to lock it, it doesn't lock (using the key fob). But if we then unlock and lock the car again it normally locks OK second time around, very weird......thought it was the door c/l actuator mechanism but as it works most of the time I've ruled it out. Again it never does it when the dealer has it...reckon he thinks I'm mad.
Anyhow hope no-one minds me joining as there doesn't appear to be any other groups specifcally for Tino owners.

Almera Tino 1.8s 2001, aftermarket Kenwood CD/MP3 player (which is a doddle to fit in one of these!)

welcome mate im sure no-one will mind after all it is an almera. regards to your probs, the 1st, you might have a faulty fuel indicator, so when it reads quarter full, its actually nearly empty, hence why you have to floor it and circulate the petrol(had this prob with my old pug) secondly as regards to your lock, the central locking might be out of sync, so you'll need to have it reset(again i had this prob, but on a vitara).

:welcome: not many tino owners on here, your one of a minority i believe on this site. With regards to your problems I am unable to help. Odd that they all work properly when it is in the garage and not when out of it.

Hi Welcome!

Theres actually bodykits for the Almera Tino! Couldnt beleive it when i saw it, more for that than the N15!!LOL

welcome to the club mate :)

what your refering to here is the Consult system dealers do have them & can plug them into your car to run a diagnostic even on mera's from 1995 so why would your 2001 model not have it ? i think some one's telling porky pies mate ;)

Welcome mate,

I had the same problem with my central locking and insisted they sort it they ended up changing it on the door that caused the problem. Put your foot down and give them hell until they do it! Good luck.

most modern cars you can reset it yourself(the cental locking) for example on my dads 1998 vauxhall vectra, he turns his stereo on and holds the key infront of it for 8 seconds then the doors lock, then unlock all together. dont know if its the same for the tino, but there might be something similar, check the manual...

welcome :)
about your problems, trust me someone on here will know how to fix it, there all bloody mera mad! i've done a few things and sorted a few problems thanx to these guys.
ps i think your names canny funny for some reason, call me imature but it just tickles me lol.

Just to put the Tino ancestry right: it's based in the MAXIMA floor pan, not the Almera. I work with an ex-Nissan engineer who worked on the Tino. Also, Spain was the only place they were made, they're not UK-built, not even the RHD models.
