Hi all! Quick question about my new Almera....

Hi all!

Just been googling for Almera info when I found this site, I'm proud to say I've been an Almera owner for a whole day!

Thing is, I want to change the tape player for a cd player. Mine is a pre-production model registered in 1999, and has the pop-up sat nav in the dashboard and radio controls on the steering wheel. My first question is can the sat nav play CD's? I'm guessing not, as that would be far too easy. So does anyone know what model cd player can be installed? And how easy a job is it to fit it all into the dash and connect up the steering controls?

There are a couple of nissan cd players with dashboard fascias knocking around on EBay, but I don't want to buy one if it's going to be a nightmare job....

Any suggestions??

i had a renualt ages ago and changed the cd player to a sony one, i bought an adapter that made the steering wheel controls work the sony unit,
maybe you could put a really good aftermarket cd player in and still use the standard controls like i did.

welcome to the forum katia_11.

Take a picture of the dashboard and I can give you some more advice. im not 100% sure if you can change the radio on the N16 phase 1 with sav not

Thanks Darren198712 - will try and get a decent picture tomorrow in the light.

I phoned my local Nissan dealership up today and spoke to the guy in the service dept who said similar - in my version you can only have the cd changer, which I think goes were my sat nav controls are, so it's one or the other, and he didn't reckon that the factory fitted ones I'd seen for sale would work. Apparently I can install an after-market version, however I won't be able to use the steering wheel controls and I've got quite attached to them :D

I think for now I'm going to try and hook up my mp3 player using a cassette adapter, not ideal, but a quick and cheap solution for the time being.
