hi all

hello new poster here. not long got my almera. seems pretty good, only problem is the fuel guage is erratic. seems to jump around, give dash a tap and will move a bit. not major as just have to keep topped up. any ideas would be appreciated.

welcome to the club

first call would be to change the clocks to see if it rectifies the problem

Welcome along. If its not the clocks then sometimes the float switch gets a bit stuck. Happens if the car has been sitting for a while.

thanks for the welcomes. will try the float first as it sounds easier then taking the dash apart! i assume you get to it under the back seat. is there much to it?

hi. had a look into guage trouble yesterday, pretty sure its the guage itself. have found some on ebay and was wondering if you replace clocks will it show my cars mileage or car it came from? also some look slightly different (digital bit) but plugs on the back look the same. would these be ok? thanks in advanvce.

you won't be able to fit the ones with digital odometer without wiring changes, and not easy ones either.

if I remember, you don't have to replace the whole clocks, you can just replace the fuel gauge separately.

Its rare for the gauge to fail, it more than likely the sender in the tank, have seen a couple of them go now.
