Hi, my names chris, got a N15 1998 1.4 esteem inherited from my dad, after he bout a 55 plate 2.2 dCi SXE N16
and I love it
(and would love to get a gti)
However, I have a problem, after doing the stupidest thing possible, thats right, I lent the car to my mam, the key fob has lost the program, Iv reprogrammed it before so i know the sequence to get it working again, but unlike before the alarm is actually still activated this time.
I've had quotes of £30-40 to get the key reprogrammed from a dealership, but Id prefer to do it myself, I just cant actually get into the car without the alarm going off!! (and to do this, id still have to get the car towed to a garage)
The key obviously works fine in the lock but as soon as I open the door the alarm sounds and I cant get it to stop until I relock the door (and wait)
Tried everything to try and disarm it, so I can start the programming sequence but I cant do it?
Does anyone know how to get round this?
I have the original master fob and one normal fob, the "normal/slave" for flashes fast (indicating its not programmed but still works) and the master flashes slowly when the buttons are pressed.
I've tried to put the car into programming mode while the alarm is going off but all I succeeding in doing was p***ing off my neighbours.
If anyone could offer any advice I would be most greatful. thanks
